Tattoo Designs Kids Names

Anyone know of any good websites for tattoo design?

My husband wants to get a new tattoo with our kids’ names. We just can’t figure out what kinda design or what not would look good.
I was thinking about doing the same thing (maybe not the same design) but I’m afraid of the pain. I have talked about getting a tattoo for a long time but then when it comes down to it I’m afraid to do it because I’m not into pain.
Is it really painful?
Oh and were would be a good place to put a tattoo like that?
My husband was thinking on his chest (of coarse this was a couple years ago when he was thinkng that), he said he was going to put it on his chest then his kids’ names would be close to his heart.

Even though no matter what his kids will always be close to his heart, I guess that would just make them closer, who knows.

My recommendation is, instead of going online, do the footwork and go to a bunch of studios. Look through the portfolios of various artists and find on that you both dig, hopefully one who specializes in word/prose tattoo, and schedule a consultation with that artist. Consults are always free and you can get a good dialog going about your (and your husband’s) ideas for the tats, and the artist can help you fine tune exactly what you want them to look like.

As far as the pain goes, don’t worry. Yes, it does hurt for the most part, but the pain really varies depending on:

- the person
- the artist’s touch (some are heavier, others lighter)
- the area’s proximity to bone (this is why ankle, shoulder blades, and spines tend to hurt quite a bit)
- the density of nerve endings in the area (back of the thigh, buttocks, spine, and inner arm all tend to be more sensitive because of this)

All in all though, the sensation is like a hot, stinging/cutting feeling, and it is fleeting. It is nothing you can’t handle, I promise, and all part of the process that makes getting inked so wonderful and somewhat cathartic. I guarantee you will feel like a bad-ass when you’re done!

Again, though, the pain is something to talk with your artist about. They’ll be able to alleviate your fears in that arena.

Finally, I’m not sure if you want a straight-up name tattoo or if you want it more stylized, but I myself got one of my favorite tattoos (a dedication to my mom) by simply buying a typewriter and typing the word I wanted. I blew it up a bit and took it to the studio. When it was done, it looked amazing. Stark but beautiful, and surprisingly not something I have seen on other people.

Whatever you decide, do so with an artist who can help you create something unique, personal, and perfect for you and your husband. You’ll be so much happier you didn’t get something off a website. Best of luck, love, and here are some studio sites for inspiration!
