What is a symbol of Death?
I’m designing a tattoo that includes the egyptian symbol of life (an ankh) and the four elements (earth, fire, water and air). Theres a spot in the middle thats big enough to fit something in and i want to put a symbol of death to show death is part of life. Any ideas?
skulls and such are so cliche, and from the sound of the tattoo you’re going with something much more serious and symbolic. My first idea would be to pair the egyptian symbol for life with an egyptian symbol for death. Anubis is an obvious choice but there are others. The first 2 sites I listed has some egyptian symbols and their meanings.
But there are plenty of other death related symbols such as lilies, crows, vultures, etc. The third and fourth site shows a list of death symbols seen in cemetaries.
Most impoortantly, you need to find a symbol that relates and speaks to you personally. Good luck with the tattoo. Just be sure you are TOTALLY satisfied with it BEFORE you get inked!
